KISII.Kenya, Nov, 17 – 50 year-old George Morara was Tuesday sentenced to serve 40 Years In jail for killing his Wife and later dumping her body inside a Pit Latrine in Marani area of Kisii county.

Appearing before High Court Judge Rose Ougo, the accused was charged that back in 2019 he murdered his wife Jessica Moraa.

Court records described Moraa as a nuisance, murderer, thief and extortionist.

“By releasing you, you will cause more harm to the community, you are a serious offender to your family and to the community you deserve a life sentence for the safety of the Rioma people,”read a section of the court ruling

Earlier testimonies from the accused’s brother who is a police officer said that he had a criminal record which included assaulting his mother, the case was reported however later withdrawn.

Probation officers had initially recommended life sentence.

The accused counsel,Shaffin Kaba, sought leniency from the court saying that his client had reformed since being in jail from 2019 and that he was suffering from a terminal illness..

The judge however refuted the claims saying that an innocent life was lost and that the deceased family was still in pain as a result.

“In consideration of all the above I sentence you George Morara Arobo to 40 years imprisonment,”Said Justice Ougo.
