KISII, Kenya, Nov 18-Five Itierio Girls Secondary School students were this week arraigned, for allegedly trying to set on fire one of their school dormitories.
They appeared before the Kisii Law Courts.
They were accused of planning to commit the offence on November 9 according to court documents seen by Shahidi News.
The court heard that the incident was to happen at 4 pm.
The school is in Bomorenda location, Bonchari Constituency.
Police said the students were found with petrol and hand sanitizer, which was to be used in lighting the fire.
Appearing before Senior Resident Magistrate Paul Mutahi, the students pleaded not guilty to the charges of attempted arson, which is contrary to Section 333 (a) of the Penal Code.
They were granted a surety bond of Sh50,000 or a cash bail of Sh20,000 each.
The case will be mentioned on November 29, 2021.
