    3 Sustain Bullet Injuries Following Attack By Unknown Assailants In Marsabit

    MARSABIT,Kenya, Nov, 20 – Security has been heightened in parts of Marsabit county after three people were shot by unknown assailants in Kiwanja Ndege area Friday evening.

    According to preliminary reports, the three, an old man, woman and child sustained gunshot wounds.

    Marsabit Deputy County Commissioner David Saruni confirmed the incident saying, the shooters fled the scene shortly after aboard a motorcycle.

    The injured were rushed to the Marsabit Referral Hospital. On Saturday however one of the victims is said to have been brought to Nairobi for specialised treatment.

    “We have beefed up security in the area as we urge leaders to play a role in calming tension here,” said Saruni.

    Businesses in the town was forced to close early as residents feared for their safety.

    The county has been plagued by cases of insecurity in recent weeks despite the national government reiterating its commitment to enhance local’s safety.

    On November,4,2021, Six people were confirmed dead while 11 were left nursing gunshot wounds after several unknown assailants ambushed a lorry ferrying goods and passengers from Marsabit town heading towards Badassa area.

    Area governor Mohamud Ali condemned the incident calling on the national government to enhance security amidst recent flareups of violence that has plagued the area.

    “We have appealed time and again with the security agencies in this county,whenever there are activities that we plan, the planners of these terrible acts normally move into action,” said Ali.
