NAIROBI,Kenya, Dec,4 – Police have confirmed that two people lost their lives while another was injured and is in hospital receiving treatment following a road accident Thursday evening.
According to preliminary reports, the accident which saw a double cabin vehicle swerve off the road hitting a bodaboda rider and his passenger and another person occurred along Lang’ata road near the southern bypass interchange in Nairobi county.
The driver is said to have been speeding during the incident.
According to witnesses, the driver also appeared to be inebriated.
Senior traffic police officers confirmed the incident and said that the driver of the double cabin vehicle involved in the accident, David Mwendwa has since been released on a Sh20,000 cash bail amidst investigations.
“No stone will be left unturned as we launch investigations,” said police.
Mwendwa is said to be the son of inspector general of police Hilary Mutyambai.
He is said to have presented himself to police at the Lang’ata police station.
“That he is the son of the inspector general is not a fact to this matter because even if he is the son to the IG or not the thing ahead us is an accident,” said Nairobi Traffic Boss, Joshua Omukata,
Omukata also refuted claims that there were attempts to hide what happened at the Lang’ata police station.
“The vehicle was brought to Lanag’ata police station and inspected….we are going on recording further staments that is going to assist us get into the conclusion of the investigations. ”
