NAIROBI,Kenya, Dec, 10 – Evans Ekale was arraigned at the Kibera law courts Friday and charged with stealing a mobile phone belonging to an Associated Press (AP) journalist identified as Brian Inganga.
The incident is said to have occurred on December,5, 2021.
The victim was reportedly involved in a head on collision accident with a bodaboda rider and while assisting the injured, the accused is said to have took advantage of the situation and entered his car stealing his mobile phone alongside other sensitive documents.
The accused was positively identified by witnesses and later traced to his home. He however failed to provide the phone upon questioning.
He was shortly after handed over to police.
Appearing before senior resident magistrate Charles Mwaniki the accused denied the charges and was later released on a bond of Sh100,000 and an alternative cash bail of Sh60,000.
The case is set to mentioned on December 22,2021.
