LAIKIPIA,Kenya, Dec, 13 – A police officer was Sunday arrested after he threatened to shoot his colleague following an altercation at Ng’arua police station in Laikipa County.

According to preliminary reports, police constable Yusuf Nyanje and Peter Abutu are said to have extended their argument at the Mlima Jangili operation camp and despite attempts by the officer incharge, Pius Kaesa to deescalate the situation they further engaged in a war of words.

Abutu is then said to have rushed inside his house where he took his G3 rifle in an attempt to shoot his colleague.

“Suddenly PC Peter Abutu rushed into the house and took his G3 rifle but his fellow police officers managed to lock the house where they reside,” read part of the incident report.

He however managed to escape through the window as he chased constable Nyanje, firing one run of ammunition at him.

Nyanja however managed to escape through a nearby bush.

“He later took a panga and went around looking for Pc Yusuf but he was nowhere to be found,”

Abutu was shortly after restrained and arrested.

His G3 rifle with a magazine of 19 rounds of ammunition has since been admitted as evidence in an ongoing probe.
