Police Gun Down 2 During Botched Robbery In Ruaka

KIAMBU,Kenya, Dec, 14 – Two suspected robbers were Tuesday morning shot dead during a failed robbery incident in Ruaka area of Kiambu county.

According to preliminary reports, the two suspected robbers aboard a motorcycle had laid a plan to commit the offence at an area supermarket when police received a tip off an equally set an ambush for them.

A shoot out ensued during the incident as the two were killed during the fierce gun battle.

Also injured was a police officer who was shot on the neck. He has since been admitted at the Uzima hospital in Nairobi and is in stable condition.

Police have since recovered a Ceska pistol with five bullets believed to be property of the national police service.

Gigiri sub county police commander Alice Kimeli confirmed the incident saying officers from her jurisdiction were called to assist during the operation.

The bodies of the deceased are being preserved at the local mortuary.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing with police pursuing others leads indicating that others might also have been involved in the incident.
