NAIROBI,Kenya, Dec, 16- Herman Baraza was arraigned at the Kibera Law Courts and charged with attempted robbery in an incident that occurred along Lang’ata road.
The bodaboda operator is said to have attempted to woo two victims in ferrying them to their destination before allegedly attempting to steal one of the victim’s, Maryann Chepkoech’s purse.
The incident occurred on December,13,2021.
Appearing before senior principal magistrate Philip Mutua, the accused is said to have committed the act contrary to section 389 as read with section 275 of the penal code.
He is further said to have pestered the couple, demanding money while threatening to physically harm them.
“He is said to have grabbed Chepkoech’s handbag before turning to her boyfriend who he wanted to rob but he overpowered him and wrestled him to the ground and recovered the handbag, the court was told,”
Baraza was shortly after detained by residents alongside other bodaboda operators and later arrested by police.
He denied the charged and was released on a Sh 50,000 cash bail.
The case will now be mentioned on December 29,2021.
