BARINGO,Kenya, Dec, 20 – Police in Baringo have launched a manhunt for Kasaka location assistant chief, in Baringo county after he was accused of defiling a 12 year-old standard seven learner.
The incident is said to have occurred last week on Wednesday.
The administrator has been identified as Thomas Chesang.
According to preliminary reports, the incident was reported by the victim’s father Elijah Cheptoo at the Kabartonjo Police station.
Shockingly though, the victim, her mother’s and brother have also been missing since Friday…just days after the matter was reported.
“I do not know where my wife went, I came back and she was nowhere to be found, my daughter is also missing. I am shocked,” said Elijah Cheptoo, victims’s father
Cheptoo says that he inquired from neighbours where his wife and child might have gone but his efforts proved futile.
Police have however managed to track the assistant chief’s mobile phone to Nakuru town amidst efforts to apprehend him.
Meanwhile, three village elders from the area have been arrested for allegedly being accomplices in the matter. They are said to have attempted to hid the details of the case through an informal dispute resolution committee.
They are currently being held at Kabarnet Police Station.
“I have not sleep for days, looking for my mother and daughter, this is a very sad incident. We want to know the truth, what happened to our child?” said Cecilia Limo,victim’s sister.
