NAIROBI,Kenya, Dec, 21 – Police have launched investigations following a fire incident at Mukuru slums in Nairobi county where an 8 year-old girl is reported to have lost her life Monday evening.
According to preliminary reports, the girl was sleeping at the time of the incident as attempts to save her life proved futile.
The cause of the fire is yet to be established.
The deceased’s father told police that he had momentarily left his home to go to the toilet when he noticed fire razing down his home.
The fire also affected several other structures rendering many homeless.
The body of the deceased was taken to the local mortuary.
