NAIROBI, Kenya, Dec 27- The race to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in August 2021 is slowly taking shape, with all indications it will be a two-horse race.
As 2021 ends, a new survey by survey and consulting firm, Infotrak has placed Deputy President William Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga in a tie, months to the presidential election.
For the first time, the Orange Democratic Movement chief has taken the lead at 33 percent, followed closely by DP Ruto at 32 percent.
The survey that was conducted between December 17 and 22 saw a least 1,600 people interviewed, to represent more than 19 million registered voters.
A similar poll in 2020 by the firm and conducted at a similar period placed DP Ruto top at 44 percent while Odinga trailed 13 percent.
Former Vice President and Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka are in a tie of 1 percent with Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi.
Five others presidential candidates among them former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo are in a tie of 1 percent.
This is even as 52 percent of those interviewed say the One Kenya Alliance, which brings together Mudavadi, Musyoka, Senator Moses Wetangula and KANU leader Gideon Moi should be dissolved for the leaders to throw their support behind DP Ruto or the ODM leader.
According to the survey, DP Ruto is leading in Central, Rift Valley, Eastern, and Nairobi while Odinga is the most preferred presidential candidate in Coast, Western, Nyanza and North Eastern regions.

The ruling Jubilee party is at a distant third with a mere 2 percent, just like Wiper.
