NAIROBI,Kenya, Jan, 6 – Collins Mulusa will now spend six months in prison after pleading guilty to breaking and entering before stealing various electronic gadgets at a house in Kibera, Nairobi county.
The accused who appeared before Resident Magistrate William Tullel admitted to using a master key to gain entry to the victims’s,James Gachane’s house on February 2, 2020.
He was found guilty of stealing a Sh 16,000 Television set, a Sh 4,000 sub-woofer and Sh 600, hard cash.
The magistrate handed the accused the six month jail sentence without an option of a fine.
“The accused pleaded guilty to the charges after admitting to committing the theft then locking the house after the incident,” the courtsaid.
According to court documents the victim had left his house and later returned only to find that his electronic devices were stolen. Shockingly his house was still locked.
Neighbours told Gachane that the accused is the one who committed the theft.
The accused is further said to have told the victim that he would pay for the stolen devices only for him to later vacate his house and move to a different neighbourhood.
He was this year on January, 3,2022 spotted by the victim after he came back to the neighbourhood to visit a friend.
He was shortly after being spotted arrested and taken to the Kibera police station.
During mitigation despite further admitting to the theft and saying he was willing to work and repay for damages, the court opted to jail him.
