KISII, Kenya, Jan 10 (KNA)- The Gucha Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) implementation committee today held a meeting with local contractors in an effort to beat the set deadline for the construction and handing over of first phase CBC classrooms.
Gucha Sub County Director of Education, Edwin Onginjo, challenged the contractors to complete the classes before the start of national exams mid-next month.
“The national exams will be starting around mid-February. It is therefore the government’s wish for contractors to finish the construction work before this time so as to accord candidates a conducive environment during the entire exams period,” said Onginjo.
He reminded them that payments will only be effected once they complete the classrooms, hand them over and issued with a certificate of completion.
He however warned them to deliver quality classrooms even as they strive to beat the deadline adding: “Use the documents provided to achieve the required quality of output. The materials desired for the work are well stipulated in the documents we provided prior to the start of the construction works.”
During the meeting, it was noted that most of the contractors at the Sub County were nearing the roofing level for the classes. The payment will be done through Mpesa services, preferably till number.
Gucha was allocated 18 classes that would benefit 14 local secondary schools.
