NAIROBI,Kenya, Jan, 14- The Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji has directed the Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai to launch investigations into a Facebook account dubbed: Lamu County Politics Unlimited Group where alleged incendiary remarks were posted by some of is members.
In a statement the DPP referred to certain individuals, some using pseudo accounts as those behind fuelling ethnic hatred towards certain groups.
They include:Catherine Dylan,Cyte Nimz, Muthoni Martha, Lucy Peter,Anthony Mambo,Njeri E. Mwaniki,Frank Mwangi, Josh Mhumble,Alphaken Madiba,Paul Keta Sikujua, David Brighton and Ndirangu Keen.
“The aforementioned persons have published continent that may incite feelings of contempt,hatred, hostility, violence or discrimination towards certain ethnic groups which is contrary to Article 62 (1) of the National Cohesion ad Integration Act of 2008 and Sections 22 and 23 of the Computer Misuse and Cybercrime Act,2018.
He directed Mutyambai to institute comprehensive investigations into the said publications and submit the resultant investigation file within 30 days.
“A progress report should be forwarded to my office within 14 days for further directions,” read part of the statement.
Lamu Insecurity
Two people who had been abducted by suspected Al-Shabaab terrorists in Lamu have been found murdered.
The two were abducted 8 days ago, and their whereabouts had remained unknown, until Thursday when police found their bodies.
They had been abducted in Kibokoni, Hindi area of Lamu County.
Police told Shahidi News that the two bodies were retrieved from a forest in Kibokoni.
Parts of Lamu County have since been put to a dusk to dawn curfew after 15 people were killed in days.
Of those killed, four are General Service Unit officers.
While the killings are being conducted by suspect Al-Shabaab militants, preliminary investigations have linked the incidents to land disputes in the area.
The government is undertaking landmark projects in the coastal town, a move that has drastically improved the value of land in the area.
Those who have been killed are said to have relocated to Lamu from other parts of the country.
