NAIROBI,Kenya, Jan, 17 – Heavily armed men, in tactical gear believed to be police officers Monday evening stormed the private office of businessman cum presidential aspirant Jimmy Wanjigi domiciled at Kwacha House, along General Mathenge Road in Nairobi.

A time stamp on what is believed to be an image from CCTV footage at the premises showed several suspected police officers outside Wanjigi’s office attempting to gain entry.

The images were shortly after disseminated on social media with colleagues and friends of the businessman expressing concerns over his safety.

It remains unclear why the armed men in tactical gear raided his office.

This is not the first time police have raided his offices.

Back in 2017, detectives attached to the Special Crimes Prevention Unit (SCPU) descended on Kwacha House as well as his residential homes in Nairobi and Malindi in search of alleged illegal firearms.

Wanjigi has been vocal in recent months over his aspirations to vie for the presidency on an ODM ticket during the 2022 general elections.

He is fighting for the presidential ticket against long-time party leader Raila Odinga.
