TRANS NZOIA,Kenya, Jan, 24 – A couple at Kiungani Police Station in Transnzoia County allegedly died by suicide.
A shooting incident was reported at the same police station by the area Deputy Officer Commanding the Station at about 11.30.
Police Inspector Mary Umazi reported that at about 10.30 a female police officer identified as Dorcas Chebet came to the station and walked into her house.
She met two other officers outside before she locked herself in the house together with her husband identified as Abel Andari.
Several gunshots were heard from the locked house before things went silent.
According to a report, at least three gunshot sounds were heard from the couple’s house.
Other officers at the station broke the door only to stumble on the lifeless bodies of the couple.
It remained unclear whether both the deceased worked at the same station.
A G-3 rifle serial number FMP 391843 and three spent cartridges were found on the floor.
Investigation into the matter has since been launched.
The bodies were moved to Kitale County Hospital mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.
