NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 24- Kenya’s political landscape drastically changed on Sunday after Deputy President William Ruto announced a plan to work with Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi, ahead of the August elections.

Ruto said he will also be working with Moses Wetangula of Ford Kenya “and all other parties that want to walk with us in the journey to unite and transform Kenya.”

He said this on a day Mudavadi dismissed President Uhuru Kenyatta’s backed Azimio la Umoja alliance whose presidential candidate is former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

The ANC boss said the alliance was not an option, saying it was not even about “uniting Kenyans”.

But it is the Deputy President’s appearance at the ANC national delegate conference at Bomas of Kenya that stirred the political waters.

Other One Kenya Alliance principals; Kalonzo Musyoka of Wiper and Gideon Moi of Kenya African National Union, made a quick dash out of the historic facility.

“We will ensure that we raise the bar of leadership so that deceit does not become part of the equation of leadership in our country,” the Deputy President said.

He, like Mudavadi, has accused the ODM leader of deceit in the past.

“We are glad today marks a new page in the political discourse of our nation. UDA commits to work with ANC, Ford Kenya, and all other parties that want to walk with us in the journey to unite and transform Kenya,” he said.

He said as leaders, they will work to protect democracy “and allow every Kenyan to freely make their political choices.”

“We must resist the criminalization of dissenting or alternative views. The criminal justice system cannot be weaponized to drive political narratives.”

Mudavadi has since made it clear he will not be working with Azimio la Umoja alliance.

During the event, Mudavadi also rolled out his plan for Kenya if elected the fifth President, which included a plan to revive the economy, promote and protect devolution, review Kenya’s foreign policy, among other things.

Other leaders who were present included former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo.
