NAIROBI,Kenya, Jan, 27 – Samuel Alfayo Akunda has been charged with causing grievous harm after he was accused of ‘forcefully extracting’ his ex girlfriend’s teeth after she ended their relationship.
The accused who appeared before senior resident magistrate Renee Kitangwa is said to have committed the act on October, 30,2021.
The victim has been identified as Emily Achieng.
Despite initially pleading guilty, the accused recanted his plea saying that he was not guilty.
The shocking decision came after Kitangwa informed the accused that a guilty plea would attract not less than 10 years in jail.
According to preliminary reports, Achieng was heading to the accused’s home to pick up her belongings on the day of the incident.
Akunda is then said to have turned violent after he was notified that their relationship was over.
He is said to have slapped her before punching her forcing her teeth to fall off her mouth.
The accused was then arrested after the matter was reported at the Kibra police station.
He was released on a Sh100,000 bond and an alternative cash bail of Sh50,000.
The case will now be mentioned on February 9,2022.
