BARINGO,Kenya, Jan,29 – Police in Baringo are pursuing a group of bandits that stormed Lamaiwe village in Mochongoi, Baringo South injuring two people Saturday morning.
According to preliminary reports the bandits staged an ambush before proceeding to indiscriminately shoot at the innocent civilians.
Scores of residents have since fled their homes in fear of another attack. The area has witnessed similar incidents amidst increased cases of insecurity.
The injured were quickly rushed to the Kabel dispensary before being transferred to the Baringo County Referral Hospital.
“One person was shot at the back while the other was shot on the leg,” said Dr. Isaac Cheburet.
Even as tension continues to increase in the area, leaders are now calling on the government to deploy more boots on the ground in order to restore sanity.
Several people have so far been killed in Baringo and Elegy Market county this year in suspected bandit attacks as hundreds of livestock have been stolen.
“The bandits burnt down our crops now we fear we will suffer from starvation if we do not receive timely assistance,” said a local resident.
Learning in some parts of the county has been affected as a result of the insecurity.
