NAIROBI,Kenya, Feb, 4 – A Nairobi court has issued summons for Devolution Principal Secretary Julius Korir after he was accused of allegedly assaulting his estranged wife Everlyn Koech.
The PS was slated to appear in court Thursday but was a no show.
Chief Magistrate Susan Shitubi has now issued fresh summons directing Korir to appear in court on February,10,2022.
According to court documents, the suspect is said to have meted violence on his estranged wife occasioning her actual bodily harm.
He is yet to take plea over the allegations which are said to have occurred back in 2018 in Ndalat Road, Karen in Nairobi while his wife was pregnant.
Koech reported the assault incident to Hardy Police Station in Karen on November 20, 2018, under OB 40/20/11/2018.
The PS’s attempts to stop his prosecution proved futile after an application before Justice Anthony Mrima was dismissed.
The offence of causing grievous harm attracts a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.
A P3 form showed the victim sustained thorax and abdomen injuries. A fact later proven to be true as seen on CCTV footage obtained by sleuths.
The two are currently embroiled in a divorce case.
