Investigations Ongoing Days After Student Died At A Sand Mine In Kisumu

KISUMU,Kenya, Feb, 9 – Detectives are still conducting investigations following the death of a secondary school student who was killed after a sand mine collapsed on him.

According to preliminary reports, the deceased, since identified as Stephen Omondi was a student at Kochogo Secondary School.

The 16 year old is said to have been working at the site for some time.

Efforts by residents to save his life proved futile as navigating their way through the 10 feet pit proved to be a struggle.

Area chief Jacob Ogudi confirmed the incident saying that other teenagers escaped the site unhurt.

The deceased’s body is being conserved at the Ahero Sub-County Hospital Mortuary.
