Student Dies After Pit Latrine Collapsed In Kisumu

KISUMU,Kenya, Feb, 9 – Nyabondo High School in Kisumu county is mourning the death of one its student after the pit latrine he was in caved in.

According to preliminary reports, the incident occurred at around 4pm Wednesday.

Attempts to rescue the learner proved futile with his body being recovered nearly three hours after the fateful incident.

Police told Shahidi News that three other students managed to escape unhurt after noticing the latrines were about to collapse.

As parents and other learners hoped for the best the sad news of the student’s demise was finally announced.

“The incident caught us unaware, it really surprised us,” said a teacher at the school who sought anonymity.

Police have launched investigations into the cause of the incident.
