NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 10- The Defence Forces Memorial Hospital (DFMH) has launched a higher diploma in critical care nursing class at the Defence Forces Medical Training School (DFMTS) in Nairobi.

The launch ceremony was presided over by the Chief of Medical Services (CMS) Brigadier (Dr) Odhiambo, on behalf of the Director of Medical Services, Major General (Dr) George Ng’ang’a.

Speaking during the ceremony, the CMS said that the higher diploma comes at a critical time when Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) hospitals across the country are under expansion, in which the skills acquired from the institution will be needed.

“This training will ensure the health personnel are well trained for a fruitful engagement at their various workstations upon completion of the course,” said Brigadier (Dr) Odhiambo while addressing pioneer students.

The Commandant DFMH Brigadier Marowa Gati said the course ushered in a new chapter that would ultimately contribute to the betterment of the future health of the Defence Forces.

“The course will be challenging but in the end, through us working together with our collaborators and you giving it your all, you will come out with a sharper mind capable of handling all medical challenges as they arise,” he said.

The pioneer class is scheduled to start their course this month and will run for a duration of one year.

Present at the ceremony were representatives from the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) and Kenyatta Hospital, the Chief Nursing Officer Colonel Margaret Wambui, Senior Officers, Officers and Service Members.
