NAIROBI,Kenya, Feb, 14 – Four sleuths based at the Lang’ata police station’s Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) offices were arraigned at the Milimani Law Courts and charged with abducting a man and forcefully obtaining money from him.

Anthony Muvaka Mwanza ,Cornelius Stephene Wambua , Tom Omomdi Otieno and Kennedy Omondi Odero are said to have committed the act on February,6,2022 and charged with robbery with violence.

The incident is said to have occurred at 1.45pm near Nextgen Mall along Mombasa Road.

The sleuths are said to have been armed with AK47 riffles and two Ceska pistol jointly with others not be fore court.

The victim, Vincent Ochieng Odembo filed a report at the Serious Crimes Unit at the DCI headquarters  and told investigating officers that the accused robbed him of Sh40,000 shillings and 2,400 USD equivalent to Sh272, 260.

The prosecution told the court that the accused meted violence on the victim.

According to the DCI Whilst in the vehicle, the in-charge Corporal Tom Otieno, forcefully transferred Sh40,000 from the victim’s M-pesa account to his M-pesa account.

They then proceeded to the victim’s apartment where they took a further Sh272, 260 (USD2,400) from him, before dumping him at Choma Zone located at Total petrol station along Mombasa Road,” said the DCI in a statement.

Before filing a report at the Serious Crimes Unit along Kiambu road, he had initially went to report the matter at Akila police station only to find the vehicle he had been bundled into at the station.

“Investigations were launched immediately and the serious crimes detectives established that the vehicle indeed belonged to DCI Lang’ata. All the four officers have since been arrested and identified positively by the victim, in an identification parade conducted this evening at the DCI headquarters,” the DCI added.

The DCI similarly stated that actions by the rogue officers were isolated and did not, in any way, reflect the mandate of the sleuth’s agency to serve and protect the people of Kenya.

The DCI likewise added that stern action will be taken against any law enforcement officers found guilty of committing crimes in the line of duty.
