NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 16- Female teachers in Kenya will now have a four-month maternity leave, under new changes announced by the Ministry of Education.
Previously, the female teachers would go for 3-month maternity leave.
Under the new changes hailed as revolutionary, male teachers will have a 3-week paternal leave, from the initial ten days leave.
According to the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) Chief Executive Officer Nancy Macharia, the changes are in line with the 2021-2025 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
Teachers shall not lose their annual leaves once they take either their maternal or paternal leave.
Teachers are also now eligible for 45 days of pre-adoptive leave with full salary.
