KIAMBU,Kenya, Mar, 4 – Politicians nationwide have been directed to keep of primary schools in the coming weeks amidst a national examination.
Candidates will be sitting their Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams next week on Monday.
Education Cabinet Secretary professor George Magoha has advised politicians to seek alternative venues to hold the political campaigns.
“Between now and the end of next week no politicians will be allowed, it doesn’t matter who he/she is…no politicians will be allowed to hold rallies in primary schools until the small matter of examinations is complete,” said Magoha.
“With effect from next week up until the end of the examination period for high school, we shall not allow any politicians from both sides…they can high grounds. We must keep children in a very sane area.If they try they will face the full force of the law,”
Magoha who inspected candidate’s preparedness for the exams at Kimunyu Primary School in Gatundu South, Kiambu County said that the government is ready to ensure the process is a success.
Canidates nationwide held rehearsals ahead of the examinations on Monday.
A total of 1,265,507 candidates are registered to sit for the KCPE.
Meanwhile as candidates in secondary schools also prepare for their exams, Magoha said that construction will be halted until the end of the exams which will roughly take 6 weeks.
Already 3,500 classrooms have already be constructed across secondary schools to accommodate learners under the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC).
“The construction of classroom in secondary school shall continue for another week, we will monitor and push for classrooms to be finished. I hope before we have not started KSCE, the project will be at 95 per cent. Any contractor not done will have to wait tour 6 weeks until exam is over to continue with their work,”
