KIAMBU,Kenya,Mar, 7 – It is all hands on deck at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) as Ballistics, Investigations branch,Homicide Unit, Crime Scene Unit and the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau officers commence investigations into the ‘ride by’ fatal shooting of Ndarugo plantation director Sudhir Shah.
According to the head of investigations at the DCI John Gachomo, no one has so far been arrested even as the motive of the shooting remains a mystery at this point in time.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the 66 year asian director was in the company of eight people including another director when they were visiting a site at the plantation.
At the tail end of the meeting, a motorcycle with two unknown passengers are then said to have alighted as one who was armed with a pistol started shooting towards the nine at the site.
“One of the police officers accompanying the director engaged the attackers. A fire exchange ensued and one of the directors was injured. He was rushed to Thika memorial hospital and unfortunately he succumbed to his injuries,” said Gachomo.
The gunman alongside his accomplice shortly after fled the scene.
The incident occurred at around midday day on Saturday,March,5,2022.
“Investigations are ongoing to unearth what exactly transpired and bring the suspect to face the law,”
The deceased sustained gunshot injuries on his chest.
The officer guarding the director has seen his firearm admitted into evidence pending a ballistic examination. It is not yet certain whether it was his firearm or that of the assailants that shot the deceased.
An autopsy on the deceased is also expected to be conducted to establish the cause of death.
Detectives are also expected to revisit the scene of crime.
