According to court documents,  the accused committed the despicable act on March,4,2022 at Barabara Tano along Professor Wangari Mathai road in Nairobi County.

Detectives probing the case filed a miscellaneous application seeking to detain the suspects for 20 days pending a conclusive investigation.

Appearing before Nairobi magistrate Gilbert Shikwe, police Inspector Lyvonne Mwanzia based at DCI Gigiri police station office said that the 20 days will help detectives conduct a thorough probe before fully preferring charges.

The victim said that she was driving along the said area and was involved in a road accident with a bodaboda rider according to a police report.

She further told police at Parklands police station that while still inside her motor vehicle the group of bodaboda riders started assaulting her sexually as they stole her mobile phone worth Sh130,000.

“The suspects are bodaboda riders who operate at Barabara tano stage and their place of abode is not known releasing them will jeopardise the ongoing investigations “said inspector Mwanzia.

Meanwhile the bodaboda riders sought to be released by the court saying that the victim did not identify any of them during an identification parade.

They further opposed detectives’ application to detain them for 20 days.

“The complainant has not yet filled the P3 form since she is still undergoing treatment and counselling due to the trauma she experienced “said Madam Ooko prosecuting counsel.

The court will make a ruling on the application on Thursday.
