    University Student Arrested For Impersonating KCSE Exam Candidate In Kisii

    NAIROBI,Kenya, Mar, 14 – A third year university student is in police custody after he was arrested for impersonating a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidate at Kiamabundu Mixed Secondary School examination center in Kisii Central sub county.

    According to preliminary investigations,the suspect, has been identified as Brian Angwenyi, a student at Kisii University. Police say he was sitting for the exams on behalf of a candidate from private school.

    Kisii Central Sub County Police Commander Peter Kimani said that the suspect was apprehended while sitting for the English paper one after the examination center’s supervisor and invigilator raised an alarm.

    “The supervisor and invigilator were able to identify the suspect as an impersonator and police officers from Kisii Police Station and Directorate of Criminal Investigations visited the center where they were able to arrest him,” said Kimani.

    Police, who are part of the multiagency security team safeguarding the integrity of the examinations say that they will not allow similar incidents in the area.

    The suspect is being detained at the Kisii Central Police Station pending is arrangement.

    According to the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) a total of 831,015 candidates will be sitting for the KCSE 2021 Exams.

    The examinations are being administered in 10, 413 examination centres.
