NAIROBI,Kenya, Mar, 15 – The wheels of justice are steadily and surely at work – In a bid to boost access to justice and effective service delivery, the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has now advertised six positions of Court of Appeal Judges and 20 positions of High court Judges.

The JSC has now advised interested and qualified candidates to apply for the positions by visiting the commission’s portal on how to apply. Instructions on the application’s are now readily available.

“Following the declaration of vacancies in the Offices of: Judge of the Court of Appeal and Judge of the High Court vide Gazette Notices No. 2529 and 2530 dated 11th March 2022, the JSC invites applications from qualified persons to fill the vacancies pursuant to Article 172(1)(a) and as read with Article 166 (1)(b), (2), (4) and (5), Section 30 of the Judicial Service Act and the First Schedule of the Judicial Service Act (No. 1 of 2011),” read the advert.

Prospective applicants have been advised to send in their applications not later than April,4,2022.

The exercise will close at exactly 5pm.

Chief Justice Martha Koome has in the recent past decried several challenges facing the judiciary, among them inadequate judges to enhance better service delivery.

President Uhuru Kenyatta in June 2021, rejected the appointment of six judges to the court of Appeal and the Environment and Lands court.

Kenyatta appointed 34 out of the 40 candidates nominated by the JSC.

A statement from State House at the time said that their appointment was rejected for,”failing to meet the required threshold.”
