Two Killed During A Village Attack In Marsabit

MARSABIT, Kenya, Mar 23-Two people were on Tuesday evening killed in a gun attack in a village in Marsabit County in the ongoing chaos in the area.

Witnesses and police said five other people were seriously injured after their vehicle was attacked by suspected bandits on the Marsabit-Moyale highway.

The incident happened between Bubisa and Rurbi areas where armed assailants ambushed the Toyota Probox before opening fire on the vehicle and its occupants.

Police arrived at the scene minutes later but no arrest was made.

The region is facing continuous attacks and counter-attacks from gunmen among other political reasons.

President Uhuru Kenyatta has since asked local leaders to come up with a solution to address the chaos.

Tens of lives have been lost to the violence that has been linked to the forthcoming general elections.
