NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 2- Legendary football commentator Peter Drury has reacted to a mimic video of his live commentary, saying it was “terrifically funny.”
The mimic video was by a Kenyan online comedian, identified as Arap Uria.
The comedian posted a video of Drury on his Twitter handle.
“I love what you do, I hope you are laughing with me if not at me. I must say I am certainly laughing with you, it is terrifically funny,” Drury said in a 36 seconds video.
Drury said he hoped he will get to meet Uria “face to face.”
A section of Kenyans including Senator Kipchumba Murkomen hailed the comedian for his hard work, which might now propel him to the global limelight.
Drury is one of the most poetic commentators on the scene, with his extensive thesaurus elevating moments on the pitch that transcend it into a “goosebumps” moment. When fans hear Drury’s voice, they know what to expect.
The 53-year-old broadcaster has been on the microphone for almost two decades and has become a household name for football fans around the world, telling the tales of some of the greatest moments in football.
One of his iconic commentaries was during a match between Kostas Manolas vs Barcelona.
It simply had to be the “Greek God in Rome” remarks that saw Kostas Manolas top this list.
Roma came from 3-1 down against Barcelona in the Champions League quarter-final to win on away goals, with Manolas getting the winner with eight minutes to play.
There could not have been a better man to be behind the microphone for what turned out to be a historic encounter.
