NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr, 10 – Four police officers from Kamukunji police station are in custody after being arrested on suspicion of engaging in corruption.
The four were arrested in Ongata Rongai while allegedly defrauding a businessman.
They are also accused of leaving their place of work without notice and committing acts amounting to corruption.
Police Constables Henry Temba, Esther Oburo, Dorcas Nzilani, and Winfred Kanana were nabbed in the company of two civilians masquerading as officials from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) and the National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA).
They were in Tuala, Ongata Rongai, 25 Kilometers away from their work station, Kamukunji.
The four had without authorization from the station command, allocated themselves duties and proceeded to the said area, to purportedly arrest two suspects on suspicion of being in possession of nylon papers.
The four and their accomplices are in custody awaiting arraignment in court on Monday.
