NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 13- Leaders allied with Deputy President William Ruto have accused their competitors in the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya alliance of having a serious trust deficit, where a word or signature on a document does not mean anything.
It all started with the Deputy President, who wondered if a signature means nothing, what would?
The Deputy President said the worst form of corruption, “is the corruption of trust.”
“We have come together to model a formidable team that will take Kenya to the next level. Kenya Kwanza is an alliance of the people, by the people for the people that are keen on transforming the economy of our country; starting with those at the lower echelons of society,” the Deputy President said.
Dr. Ruto promised to resolve the current economic problems facing Kenyans should the Kenya Kwanza Coalition win the August 9 polls.
“We will sort out most of the problems facing Kenyans such as unemployment. The people who have the task of taking care of the problems facing Kenyans should either shape up or ship out. We have better Kenyans who can take up the job,” he added.
His sentiments were echoed by Senator Moses Wetangula and Democratic Party presidential candidate speaker Justin Muturi.
“A certain people after shaking hands with them, you have to check if you have all your fingers in your hands because they have serious trust deficit,” Wetangula said.
They were speaking when 12 parties signed to form a coalition government under the Kenya Kwanza alliance.
“If your signature means nothing, what then would be the value of the word? Absolutely nothing. We know them and we can identify them even from the back, as we move forward,” the Ford Kenya leader said.
Wetangula challenged leaders allied to Kenya Kwanza, “to ask not what Kenya Kwanza will do for you, ask what you will do.”
“Kenya is a great country, constantly punching below its weight.”
Speaker Muturi urged the constituents’ parties within the Kenya Kwanza alliance to remain united and focus on delivering their promises to Kenyans if elected.
Former Majority of Leader Aden Duale challenged Ruto to end what he termed as the culture of betrayal in Kenya’s politics.
‘I hope you will not allow people around you and yourself to humiliate and demean the person and the office of the Deputy President,” he said.
“I have experienced what you went through. A number of us paid the ultimate price. The criminal justice system was used.”
Duale was removed from his position as the leader of the majority, for his dalliance with DP Ruto, who had since fallen with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Some of the parties who inked the Kenya Kwanza alliance agreement include Chama Cha Kazi led by Moses Kuria, TSP of former Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri among others.
