NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 21- Detectives in Kiambu have arrested two suspects linked to the brutal murder of Joel Juma, the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) student who was murdered on Monday.
Following a manhunt launched after the murder of the 4th-year Industrial Chemistry student, the undercover agents seized Joseph Muchiri, alias Agent, 22, and Paul Mbatha, 20, on Wednesday morning.
Juma was stabbed two times in the chest by one of the thugs before they fled to darkness.
Their arrest, the DCI said followed a detailed forensic analysis of the scene conducted by Crime Scene experts based at the DCI National Forensic Laboratory, leading the detectives to the identity of the suspects.
The first suspect was nabbed from his hideout in Kiandutu, Thika town, while the second was arrested in Gachororo, Juja area, as he tried to escape, police said.
Detectives are closing in on a third suspect.
The student, who was in the company of his girlfriend, was accosted by his killers while heading to a friend’s house, to seek revision materials.
The two suspects will be arraigned on Thursday.
