BONCHARI, Kenya, Apr 27- After losing in the Orange Democratic Movement primaries, Bonchari Member of Parliament Pavel Oimeke has declared that he will not defend his seat as an independent candidate.
Oimeke lost the ODM ticket during party primaries to Jonah Ondieki, a Kenyan-USA-based administrator.
In a statement, Oimeke said he will not be defending his seat on the August 9 General elections.
He reached the decision, he said, after consultations with his electorates, family and friends.
“After reflecting and consulting my supporters, friends, and family, I have decided that I will not be defending my seat in the 9th August 2022 General Elections,” he said.
He thanked residents of Bonchari for voting for him following the demise of the then legislator Oroo Oyioka.
In the meantime, he said he will be supporting other candidates vying for various elective positions within Kisii County.
