NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 30- President Uhuru Kenyatta, his Deputy William Ruto, and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga are already in Othaya, Nyeri County, ahead of former President Mwai Kibaki’s burial.
The three are among other dignitaries holed up at Othaya Boys High School, awaiting the arrival of Kibaki’s body in Othaya.
Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka is also in Othaya.
The cortege escorted by the military left the Lee Funeral Home in Nairobi at 7 am.
The former president who served Kenya from 2002 to 2012 died on April 22 in what is attributed to sickness and old age.
Kibaki is being accorded
He is being accorded a state burial with full military honours.
The body of Kenya’s 3rd Head of State traversed Kiambu, Murang’a, Kirinyaga and Nyeri Counties to give Central Kenya residents an opportunity to bid farewell “to their beloved and long-serving leader.”
After the State Burial Service at Othaya Approved School Grounds, Kibaki’s body will be interred at his Munyange home on the outskirts of Othaya town.
Kibaki died last week on Friday aged 90 years.
