KIAMBU, Kenya, May, 17 – Detectives from the directorate of criminal investigations (DCI) have arrested a fourth suspect in connection with the murder of a Kenya Institute of Mass Communication (KIMC) student Purity Wangechi.

According to preliminary reports, Isaac Kariuki Kibui, 22, was apprehended by the sleuths and escorted to his house where a forensic team found a blood-stained jacket suspected to have been worn by the suspect on the fateful day.

Blood samples from the jacket now admitted as evidence will be collected and compared with that found on the deceased by the biology unit of the DCI National Forensic Laboratory.

He was arrested at Thindigua Delish Nail bar in Kiambu county.

Also admitted into evidence is a vegetable knife alleged to have been used in the incident.

Police reports further indicated that Wangechi’s body had stab wounds and strangulation marks.

Her body was discovered dumped by the roadside on Saturday last week close to Mburiria estate in Kiambu.

So far, four people have been arrested in connection with the incident.

Detectives on the case say that the deceased learned that her boyfriend was involved in suspicious activities and even decided to confront him on the matter. The altercation is said to be the cause of the violence that was initially meted on her. Prior to that however on Friday, the deceased is said to have been determined to get back in the ‘good graces’ of her boyfriend and even met him Kirigiti area.

The boyfriend has been identified as John Wanyoike Kibungi alias VDJ Flexx.

Other suspects include Kinaiya Kamau and Brendan Muchiri who were arraigned at the Kiambu law courts on Monday.

In order to finalize their investigations, the court granted detectives custodial orders to hold the suspects for 14 days.
