NAIROBI, Kenya, May, 19 – Former Highway Secondary School principal Patrick Maritim Thursday testified that Kapsaret legislator Oscar Sudi was not a student at the learning institution further stating that he did not sit his Kenya Certificate of Secondary  Education (KCSE) exams in 2006.

Maritim who appeared before anti-corruption Magistrate Felix Kombo said that the are no records to prove that Sudi sat his exam at the school.

The former school principal who is the current Chief Executive Officer in charge of administration and public service at Bomet County Government served at the institution between 2010 and 2019.

“I can confirm that I went through the records of admission from the year he said he was at the school and that the name of Oscar Kipchumba Sudi was not appearing anywhere. Even the index number on the KCSE certificate belonged to another student,” said Maritim.

Sudi’s name also does not appear on the student’s register. Also, the index number that the accused claimed ownership of is said to belong to another student.

The candidate’s index number 40006/081/2006 which Sudi lay claim, belonged to Nicholas Otieno who cleared and collected his certificate in August 2007.

“I also went through the records of students who sat their KCSE in 2006 and had collected their school leaving certificates but could not find his name,”  he said.

Anti-corruption Magistrate Felix Kombo directed the case to continue in earnest despite initial attempts by the legislators’ legal team to postpone proceedings citing the MP was out of the country for medical treatment.

It was however revealed that Sudi was in Kenya and not in Turkey.

His legal counsel failed to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that he was not in the country after the case was initially adjourned on Wednesday.

The case will proceed for hearing even in his absence.
