KAKAMEGA, Kenya, May 19- A 22-year-old lady has been brutally killed by her husband through strangulation in the outskirts of Kakamega town, Shahidi News has established.
The body of the lady, police and witnesses said, also had deep cuts.
The incident occurred in Shirere village.
Lydia Khachiti is said to have been killed by her husband Edwin Misango. The two were married for four years.
The deep cuts were on her legs, police said.
It is alleged that the two engaged in a quarrel after the killer husband arrived in his one roomed house in the company of another woman and wanted the deceased to give them space.
The murder suspect, a Mkokoteni operator, was attacked by rowdy members of the community after learning about the incident and is now recuperating at the Kakamega general hospital under police observation.
The incident was confirmed by the deputy police boss in Kakamega central Daniel Mgubu and area assistant chief Phanice Atchienza.
Police recovered bhang in the suspect’s house.
Atchienza said that she has never received complaint reports from the couple that she knew well given that they neighbour her office.
The two are known water vendors in Amalemba estate.
The body is lying at Kakamega county referral hospital waiting for a postmortem examination.
