Brenda Wawire,
KAKAMEGA, Kenya, May 31- Two minors aged seven and four years old have been rescued from the hands of their brutal grandfather, who has been mistreating them and giving them hefty punishments including caning.
The two from Mutemesi village in Mumias East were rescued by a human rights organization Gruts Kenya that took the seven-year-old boy who was nursing body injuries alleged to have been caused by his grandfather.
The minor said that the guardian he has known for months now after their parents abandoned them following a family dispute hit him with a metal bar on his thighs.
He sustained serious injuries on his right thigh and other cane marks all over his body.
The accused Paul Mukhwana aged 67 is still at large with the police based at Shianda police post demanding for a p3 form for them to act.
According to him, it was normal punishment to the boy whom he claims dismantled his motorcycle and a solar panel used for lighting their home.
Gruts Kenya coordinator Roselida Mukhwana and Cristine Malala have entrusted the kids with their maternal grandfather and are now calling upon the security apparatus to help trace their parents.
The two are yet to report to school.
