NAIROBI, Kenya, Jun 20- You will be required to wear a face mask while in an indoor meeting in Kenya after the government reinstated the mandatory requirement.
This includes those traveling using public service vehicles, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe announced on Monday.
He said wearing of face mask while in outdoor meetings will remain optional.
“All in-person indoor meetings to continue at full capacity of the venue as long all the participants are fully vaccinated,” the Cabinet Secretary said.
“All attendees are required to wear a face mask at their meeting venues. All participants in in-person meetings are required to show proof of vaccination.”
He said, international travelers, arriving in the country and are fully vaccinated from the requirement of PCR test and are exempted from quarantine upon arrival in the country.
He said, “all in-person worship shall continue at full holding capacity as long as all congregants are required to wear their face masks while inside the places of worship.”
All unvaccinated travelers arriving in Kenya, he said, will be subjected to rapid antigen tests at their own cost.
“Any person who tests positive of antigen RDT is subjected to entry PCR test at their own further cost and self-isolate as per isolation guidelines,” he said.
He urged the County healed departments to scale up their surveillance, amidst a steady rise in positive cases of COVID-19.
He urged politicians to implore their supporters to get vaccinated and also wear face masks during campaign rallies.
“Kenyans are urged to exercise personal responsibility while attending rallies,” the Health CS said.
