He was speaking during a morning interview at the NTV.
“As far as I am concerned and from where I am sitting, there is no evidence against him, and the file in court does not have his name, and that does not mean I am siding with anybody, I am just being ,factual” the Director of Public Prosecutions said.
The multi-billion shilling dam projects in Elgeyo-Marakwet were canceled by President Uhuru Kenyatta, in September 2019 after investigations revealed that they had been, overpriced.
The probe also indicated that the projects were not technically or financially viable.
Politicians affiliated with President Uhuru Kenyatta, and his preferred successor Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga, have been accusing DP Ruto of having a role in the scandal.
Former Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich, his then Principal Secretary Kamau Thugge, and four others are charged with several counts of corruption, including conspiracy to defraud and abuse of office, which resulted in the loss of Sh63 billion in 2019.
The DPP had initially charged 24 individuals in relation to the scandal.
Over time, the DPP has now terminated charges against 15 people including Thugge and former East Africa Community PS Susan Jemutai Koech.
They all agreed to be prosecution witnesses.
