NAIROBI, Kenya, Jul 23- A delegation from the United States law enforcement agency, the Federal Bureau of Investigation has met Kenya’s Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji in Nairobi.
The delegation was led by Alvin Winston, Deputy Director for International Operations Division.
“The DPP and his guests discussed a wide range of issues geared towards deepening cooperation between the two institutions,” the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions said in a statement.
The DPP thanked the FBI for its support to the Criminal Justice Sector spanning years, especially in matters of counter-terrorism, human rights, mutual legal assistance, children’s justice, anti-corruption proceeds of crime, and asset recovery comparing country experiences and best practices.
The guests acknowledged, “the work done by the ODPP in enhancing access to justice and congratulated them for the conviction in the just concluded case involving Willy Kimani and others.”
In the case of Willie Kimani, his client Joseph Mwenda and their driver Josephat Muiruri, the High Court on Friday found three officers and an informer guilty of murder.
The three were killed 6 years after they were abducted and tortured.
Their bodies were found dumped in Ol Donyo Sabuk while wrapped in gunny bags.
A sentence is due to be issued by the Court.
