NAIROBI, Kenya, Aug, 1 – A Nairobi Court has issued an injunction order preventing the Chiromo Funeral Parlour from releasing the body of former senior prosecutor Fredrick Ashimosi Shitambasi for burial.

In court documents, Principal Magistrate Edgar Kagoni prevented the aforementioned from releasing the body citing a case file under a certificate of urgency by his wife, Purity Nyawira Mureithi who they were involved in a divorce proceeding that is yet to be finalized.

Nyawira in a petition accused the deceased’s family of planning the burial without involving her and her three children.

She further accused them of giving permission for a postmortem examination to be conducted on him without her consent.

“the Applicant and the deceased had a pending marital dispute and subsequently an ongoing court case; DIVORCE CAUSE NO. E038 OF 2022 in the Chief Magistrate’s Court at Nairobi; and THAT the matter is yet to be concluded denoting that the two are still legally married,” read an excerpt from the court document by the petitioner.

The case is set to be heard on August,8,2022.

Detectives have since launched investigations into the death of the 47-year-old Shitiambasi.

He was domiciled at the Prosecution Training Institute.

Neighbours are said to have discovered his decomposing body before notifying the police. They first noticed a should smell emanating from the home raising concerns. He resided at Pioneer Estate.

Detectives at the scene were forced to break into his house before discovering his lifeless body on his bed.

The cause of his death is yet to be established, though sleuths suspect it could be a result of carbon monoxide poisoning since a charcoal burner was found by his bedside.

The deceased is further said to have been on sick leave.

    Investigations are ongoing.
