KIAMBU, Kenya, Aug, 9 – President Uhuru Kenyatta Tuesday morning was accompanied by first lady Margaret Kenyatta as they cast their votes at Mutomo Primary School In Gatundu South, Kiambu county.
President Kenyatta who has publicly endorsed his one-time political nemesis cum friend, Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya Alliance presidential candidate Raila Odinga expressed confidence in fruitful and peaceful elections urging Kenyans to exercise their democratic right at the ballot.
Kenyans were further urged to promote peace and allow the poll body IEBC to execute a free and fair election.
“The process was smooth, the process did not take too long, everything seems to be working we just hope it continues like that for the rest of the day,” said Kenyatta further saying,” Vote and vote in peace and every Kenyan and myself believe that the election shall be free and fair.”
President Kenyatta said that he is looking forward to retirement after serving two consecutive terms in office.
He however said that he will still serve Kenyans in a different capacity as a private citizen and even provide counsel to the government if need be.
