NAIROBI, Kenya, Aug 10- National Assembly leader of Majority Amos Kimunya has conceded defeat, even as the counting of votes continued following Tuesday polls.
The Kipipiri Member of Parliament said he respects the will of the people while terming the outcome as a surprise.
“In a democracy, the will of the people prevails, and therefore I will respect their choices. We extend our congratulations to the winners,” Kimunya said in a statement.
Kimunya had replaced Garissa Township MP Aden Duale as Majority Leader.
“We appreciate that life is dynamic, shaped by constantly emerging and often surprising circumstances. We did our best, we are proud of our achievements and history will never be erased,” he said.
