NAIROBI, Kenya, Aug, 15 – For the people, by the people.

This is what president-Elect William Ruto hopes his government will aspire to be after he was officially announced as the winner of the concluded presidential elections that were held on August 9, 2022.

Ruto narrowly defeated his arch-rival after garnering 7,176,141 votes representing  50.49 per cent of the total votes cast nationwide against Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya Alliance presidential candidate Raila Odinga WHO GARNERED 6,942,930 votes, representing 48.85 per cent of the total votes cast.

“There will not be any part of Kenya that will be left behind in our administration because we believe in an inclusive democratic government and that is what we expect to assemble,” said Ruto.

The president-elect said that Kenyans yearn for an accountable government that will address their needs and bring about development while improving their way of life in the country.

“They want a government that is accountable, they do not want a mongrel of a government that nobody knows who is in the executive, opposition, who is doing what, the people of Kenya want clarity because we are democrats,”

He further said that he will work extremely hard to empower institutions in the country as they are given the freedom to execute their date as envisaged in the constitution.

Ruto called upon his competitors to also execute their mandate while in the opposition, being at the forefront of overnighting government operations.

“My competitors have a role to play, I will work with them in the role that the constitution assigns the people in the constitution the people in the opposition. They will provide oversight over my government and I intend to work with them in that capacity,”

“I never believed in the handshake stories and I made my position very clear because I believe in democracy. I believe in a government that has cheques and balances,”

Ruto said that if the country lacked a strong opposition then the country risks having a government that is not accountable to the people.

“We have had a situation where people who were supposed to be in the opposition are actually running matters in the executive and that is why the people of Kenya voted for me,”

Ruto has now pledged to execute his election pledges while building on the foundation that he and president Kenyatta set during their first term in office.
