THARAKA NITHI, Kenya, Aug, 26 – Tharaka Nithi Governor-elect Muthomi Njuki has been sworninto office by Meru law courts Judge Lady Justice Trispisa Cherere for a second term.

The governor and his deputy Muisrael Wilson Nyaga took the oath of office in a colourful event at Kathwana Stadium in Chuka Igamba’ngombe constituency.

Speaking after his swearing-in as governor Njuki thanked the residents of Tharaka Nithi for voting him in for a second term.

He appreciated his family including his wife Margaret Muthomi and all the stakeholders involved for their support in the election process.

The governor promised to serve diligently and assured his government is set to serve all the people.

Njuki requested all elected leaders to join him and his government to work together in order to build a great county for the people.

The governor stated some of his government achievements in the past five years which include the construction of new out-patients units in Chuka, Marimanti, and Magutuni as well as many dispensaries all over the county to boost the health sector.

In the agriculture sector, his government introduced a free certified seeds distribution program for cash crop farmers as well as functional artificial insemination subsidized program that has eventually bore fruits for dairy farmers.

Other milestones include the construction of over 10 modern markets and 300 market stalls, building over 50 bridges and more than 45km of tarmac roads as well as the construction of over 150 classes.

In the next five years, Njuki disclosed that they will be building more infrastructures throughout the county in close consultation with the community in a theme he dubbed “Leaving no one behind”

The governor expressed that their manifesto will ensure that previous programs and constructions have an impact on the lives of the people.

“We have to make the programs and infrastructures we have created functional; we cannot have a hospital without a healed patient, a bridge that is inaccessible, a market that is standing tall but has nothing to sell remains nothing but just infrastructure to the people,” he said.

The governor revealed that his government will ensure laboratories are built in the various dispensaries to bring health services closer to the community. They will also ensure there is adequate quality products to sell in the market, he noted, as well as maintain roads for smooth transportation of goods and people.

He said in the education sector, his government will ensure quality learning through equipping, staffing, and training in Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) centers and Vocational training centers.

The governor promised to work closely with the national government including the County Commissioner and elected Members of Parliament to ensure maximum delivery of services to the people.

Tharaka Nithi County Commissioner Nobert Komora congratulated the governor and promised to work closely with the county government to fulfill the mandate of the people.
