KAKAMEGA, Kenya, Sept, 1 – Police officers Thursday raided outgoing Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala’s home amid assault claims meted on a rival politician.
According to preliminary reports, Malala is accused of assaulting Joseph Oyolo during the campaign period for the Kakamega gubernatorial contest on August 29, 2022.
Drama broke out after police were initially denied entry into the compound.
They eventually broke the locks of the gate leading to the house amid protests from the politician’s family members.
The senator’s home is in Milimani area, in Lurambi Constituency.
The more than six officers are said to have descended on his home at around 1.30 pm.
The legislator’s lawyers are said to have protested the ‘force’ being used to gain entry into his home even as police claimed to have a warrant for his arrest.
